Lost Contacts - How do I restore

I've backed up my Android and have now lost two thirds of my contacts Where are they (memory card) and how do I restore them?

some android phone don't have external storage/sdcard, some have internal memory emulated as sdcard(with no sdcard slot).
assuming yours are emulated one and you haven't done fotmat or restore factory setting , so here's my answer,
go to
-setting
-backup and restore
-restore
-choose what to restore
-hit restore
done
if your neeed the contacts backup file, look or file with .vcf extension.
