Hello,

I just set up my first Home theater. I'm using my PC playing audio through the Nvidia HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V385 AV Receiver. All of the 5.1 content on my PC (movies, Netflix, games etc) sound fantastic. The issue comes up whenever I play stereo content (music, older movies, You Tube etc). When playing stereo content the sub woofer just doesn't have the same oomph. I would love to configure the system to boost the sub woofer ONLY when stereo content is playing.

My questions are; Is there a way to configure the receiver to do this? Is there some sort of software I can install that allows my to boost sub woofer levels on stereo content only?

I should note when I play stereo content on the receiver through the radio or Bluetooth it works perfectly. I should also note the sub woofer works with stereo content on the PC, it just plays very low.

Thanks folks, any advice would be great.

Since the bass level is only low when you use your PC then we can try to make the adjustment there. If you use this software
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
and other software like these
https://github.com/audiorouterdev/audio-router
http://www.chevolume.com/
https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm
to route audio it might not be automatic but may help. If you use a different program for stereo content than 5.1 it could be set up to be automatic. Certainly you can use different software to play music than movies.

Check your Yamaha's audio modes. My Yamaha rx1800 i could set various audio modes like 7.1 stereo so all speakers played from a Hdmi source. Have a look at your remote.

And try configure Nvidia audio playback to stereo if your avr has those audio modes to compare.
