Hey guys, I recently bought a laptop, Dell Inspiron 15 3537

Specs:
i7-4500u
HD8850m 2GB
8GB RAM 1600mhz
1TB HDD

AMD Driver, im using 14.4 Mobility.

in CS:GO, maxed settings im getting 30-40fps, dips to 20fps
Dishonored, maxed settings, 30-35fps, dips 15-20fps
Outlast maxedsettings, 20-30fps, dips to 10fps

coming from a Desktop, these fps are pretty stupid for these specs, something's up
anything I can do to fix this?

Solution
I fixed my problem,

1. Windows Update got corrupted so last update I received was April 9th 2014, fixed
2. Disabled Powerplay, now GPU goes above 60 degrees and I get better FPS, now over 100fps on CS GO
3. Overclock 725/1125 :p
The one thing you must realize is that mobile GPUs are much less powerful than their desktop counterparts... especially if you are attempting to compare model numbers. This is because mobile GPUs must draw less power and produce less heat and must be small enough to fit in a laptop. If you want better performance then you need to lower the resolution and / or graphic settings.

Here is a link to some info and benchmarks for the Radeon HD 8850m. For a laptop GPU it is considered pretty good; it is ranked near the top of Class 2.

Although ranked pretty high in comparison to other mobile GPUs, it is considered less powerful than the desktop Radeon R7 250 GPU which is a low end desktop GPU. It is the 2nd slowest current generation Radeon desktop GPU, the slowest is the Radeon R3 230.

Below is a review of the Radeon R7 250 some game benchmarks for a comparison.

===================================

When it comes to playing games on a laptop you must accept the fact that GPU performance is going to be much less compared to playing games on a desktop. If you want more performance, then you must increase your budget for the next gaming laptop you are going to buy... if you decide to buy another one.

BTW, I have the same laptop as you, but with the i5-4200u CPU.

so since we have almost similar laptops are these really the fps? I just thought that theres something wrong with mine :p

I have not played the exact same games you have on my Dell. The only game I am playing on it is Star Trek Online. I also briefly tested Mass Effect 3. But I can say that the FPS you are getting sounds about right, so there's nothing wrong on your end.
