Low Performance after Repair

A couple of weeks ago I spilled a drink on my laptop (good job, self). I immediately turned to the laptop off drained the liquid, let it dry, etc. Turned out it was fried and I had a PC repair company fix it. They informed me that the motherboard was toast, but everything else was fine, and replaced it. Get the laptop back and am able to boot it up, run programs, etc.

However, my computer now can't handle the games that it used to. FPS might start OK for the first few minutes, but eventually it starts stuttering. I contacted the repair guy and he said all the parts were fine during his diagnostic except for the motherboard, so he doesn't know what to tell me.

It looks like I'm on my own and hope you lovely people at TH can help me out. I've reinstalled windows, checked all drivers, checked for malware/viruses, defragged, etc.

Solution

These laptops are built to be assembled by the end user. Quite easy...

One thing you can use to view the performance values of your computer compared to other computers with the same specifications as yours is UserBenchMark. Try that out and see which components are performing sub-optimally.

Here is the most recent CPU HWMonitor read out from a gaming session experiencing the FPS stuttering/drop (2 hosted images):

(Farthest right is MAX value, beside MIN value)

I get a feeling he didn't remount the cooler properly. Or something like that. I have the EXACT same clevo/sager/whatever yours is called and it never gets it's cpu over 75c even in prime with mine (even when mine was full off dust the max it got was 80c). I think the cpu cooler is mounted improperly.

These laptops are built to be assembled by the end user. Quite easy to take apart. After taking all the screws out the easiest way to remove the back panel is by lifting it up at the ethernet port as there is a slight lip there.
