m17x10-1847DSB sold from china??

Two years ago that would've been near top of the line for Alienware and I would say that it is currently priced good for what it is. The only concern I have is the seller, I've not heard of them (a quick check of known fraud sites turned up nothing so that's good). There are risks involved in transactions like that but I would simply suggest taking all the precautions you can and, good luck

First generation Core i7 and the HD5870 are of the same era (both released 3 years ago, my mistake) but as I said, they are good performers. The CPU and GPU are upgradable but you will need to do some research into what CPU the motherboard will support. The GPU is a little easier to upgrade since compatability isn't an issue, but heat generation and availablity are. If you can find an affordable upgrade for the graphics that doesn't produce more heat (Thermal Design Power (TDP) should be equal or less) than the Radeon Mobility HD5870, you should be able to drop it in and run (after removing drivers and installing new ones)
