The Macbook Pro claims to have 2 graphics cards GeForce 9400M integrated and GeForce 9600M GT dedicated. I don't think there set up in SLi so whats the point of doing that? Is it just in case the dedicated cards fails? Is there some sort of graphics advantage to that?

The OS is set up to switch between the dedicated card (for performance) and the integrated card when you are running on battery power. You also get some benefits from the integrated card while gaming, probably PhysX acceleration.
