I have a MacBook Pro 2019 2.5 GHz Intel i5 8GB that I do enjoy throughly. I bought 2nd hand on Facebook and regret that I didn't go through the settings at all when I pirchased the MacBook. I've got the lot of Apple products iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPad (th Gen and my GF just got me Apple Watch Series 4 for the holiday. The battery on my laptop is in critical state and required service. Now, unfortunately, I have the same MacBook but my ex had intentionally damaged it to the tune of ov er $500 to fix. The battery oil that unit is in good condition. Now, I'm pretty intelligent (or so I'm told 😉) and quick learner. I'm wondering if I educated myself on the proper techniques, if swapping out batteries on the two MacBooks would be something that is achievable by myself even though I've no experience doing such a surgery. Has anyone any advice or has done said operation and can tell me how difficult it is going to be? Am I being naive in thinking that its something a Chef like myself is capable of doing or am I going to ruin my fav write electronic and be forced to buy a third Mac book in 2 years? Thank You in advance for your help! Happy New Years!!!

It isn't particularly difficult if you have the tools and confidence (to take your time) to make the swap. There are a number of YT videos that can walk you through the process.

If you find the task too daunting, you should be able to find a local "fix it" place that can do for a "reasonable" cost.
