It's common on those for the battery to fail. my sister bought a second hand one from her mate and a few weeks later and she had the same issue. A new battery should solve the problem but i don't think they're cheap...

A new battery should solve it. Regularly they are quite pricy. However, try and find the right type of replacement on ali express and have a bit of patience while they ship it to you. It will reduce cost by at least 50%! And they are more than okay! If you scrutinize the products availlable, you'll be abled to find an original Apple replacement for only 25% of the original cost! (I did too)
