Question macbook pro on table heavy hdmi cable hangs

how bad is it to have a heavy hdmi cable hanging from the type C hdmi adapter from the thunderbolt port 3 feet dangling to the ground? Can this damage the port?

Probably not a good thing in the long term. Just to be safe, adjusting the cable to remove that weight is prudent.
