Hey everyone,

Ive got an old laptop that isnt really worth buying a new battery but would be good to have one in it. I also have lots of 18650 batteries from flashlights and other old laptops. Is there any chance i can put 3 batteries in series and connect them to the laptop? The laptop is an lg x120 and has 5 pins which i have no idea what they do. Thanks in advance

Then it's probably best (and safer for your laptop) that you buy a proper replacement battery for it.

Trying to save money could prove costly if you get it wrong and damage the laptop in the process.

As long as the battery you create has the correct voltage output and can be connected to your laptop safely, then yes it is possible.
The issue might be with finding the right connection and the laptop being able to read the amount of power it has left etc. I would look at doing some further research maybe on some DIY type forums etc and see what people might have done in the past.
