Make sure YouTube ads are child-friendly?

Hi,
A parent I know is concerned because when her child goes on YouTube to watch cartoons etc, some of the ads which play before the videos are not always age-appropriate - Ads for games aimed at teens 15+, durex etc. Is there any way to ensure that all the ads that appear are suitable for viewing by under-12s, even if they're not directly aimed at them?

they have a you tube kids service that is supposed to be tailored to them. it does not specify but i assume the ads are also filtered to be kid friendly. i saw a few articles in the early days of the filters letting the wrong stuff through but have not seen anything like that in the last 6 months or so. assuming they have been watching normal youtube i assume you are already looking over their shoulders to keep them where they are supposed to be. so this may be the answer for you.

Thanks, both very useful answers. I'll suggest Youtube Kids and check out the idea of a kids' account too.
