Marcus,
very poor reporting. Obviously no real link between the guy and the game and you make no effort to highlight this.
You work for Toms and you want to increase peoples perception of games affecting real life? Whose side are you on?

[citation][nom]icepick314[/nom]why was a guy with serious psychological problems have access to video games like Silent Hill?give him Wii Sport....[/citation]

He'd probably flip out because none of the characters have legs... :/

Interactive entertainment on a whole new level...

Could have been worse though, if he were to think he was in Half-Life and started wielding a crowbar at unsuspecting zomb... I mean patients...

I guess "Insane man thinks he would win toothbrush, blacks out hospital" wouldn't have received as many clicks as the currently misleading title.

Actually, never mind that. That accurate title I just made up is actually much more interesting than the current misleading one that was clearly written in a way to pander to clicks.

From the verdict (LJN number BK1516 at rechtspraak.nl): "Suspect told both the police and the court that he thought he was in the video game Silent Hill, and that he thought that pulling switches was a puzzle he had to solve as part of the game, and that he did not know the real purpose of those switches."

The verdict is rather prosaic I am afraid, but it does confirm the headline.

shouldn't there be a cage over the equipment that controls the power?

many buildings that I have done networking for have had the power set to where you need a key in order to use it.

What's up with all these video game headlines...I'm getting sick of this. It's not the games, it's the 'medical conditions' people have that play them...People should read the disclaimer just like anything else.

Im surprised this didnt turn into a mac commercial. Just think if he had a mac he wouldnt have done this. Last time I checked you couldnt play Silent Hill on a mac.

the poor soul must be pretty unhappy to know that his action made him win a visit to the court instead of a toothbrush...

anyway, eading this article and all the readers' comments really makes my day, LOL! (^^)

Which version of Silent Hill gives the player a tooth brush at the end? Did he think he was in the tutorial? How do you fight the undead with a toothbrush??? So many questions...

I wonder if they heard of door locks?

Elle, close the door locks! BAM raptor appears through the door window!
Lex hacks into the unix system and saves the day...

Wha..What just happened?

[citation][nom]danimal_the_animal[/nom]Hospitals have Backup Generators that provide power in case of a failure.DUH![/citation]

Not if the lever cut the feed. Probably an override switch, not unheard of in case of a fire.

I agree this would be interesting to see, a whole new reality show that I would actually watch.

Hmmmm thats sucks at the same time I think id be awesome if I believed temporarily...By temp I mean for like 30 minutes, that I was in Silent hill convinced it was real..Sounds like he was trippin off the hospital drugs eh.

except backup generators are useless if you flip the circuit breaker
