Solved! Matshita DVD driversup

Hello,
I have an Acer Aspire 1681 with a
Matshita UDJA760 DVD rom/ CD rw drive that has no been working well
lately. I want to try to reinstall or update the drivers for it to see
if that will help. Any suggestions about whether it wil or not? On Windows the sound or video works but the other is out of sink and on Ubuntu 10.10 it is the other way. My next step will be to try to replace the drive.

I have had problems with Matshita Drives as well. Re-installing the firmware helped for a while, but eventually the errors kept returning. I had to replace the DVD-Rom eventually.
