Maximum RAM capacity of Thinkpad T420?

What is the maximum RAM capacity of Thinkpad T420? I searched about it but some I found saying it either 8GB, 16GB or 32GB. Which is which?

if it is that model that comes with some ram soldered, it is 12 gbs, if it doesn't come with that, 16 for sure

over that, i haven't had the opportunity to see one with more than 16 gbs, that is based on ddr3 modules of 8 gbs of ram
