maximum resolution supported by video card

I have a (10 year old) NVIDIA GeForce 6700 XL graphics card displaying 1280 * 1024 on my current monitor. If I buy a new monitor with a display of 1920 * 1080, will the card support it?

According to Wikipedia -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_6_series#GeForce_6_series_general_features it should. Use the DVI port for best quality.
