Yet another reason NOT to use McAfee. Others: Owner just recently got busted for murder. This crapware tries to sneak in with Java updates (unless you opt out).
I know McAfee's probably planning to license this to other companies. But who would want this in their product? It's like sabotaging their product because consumers are not gonna want this feature.
The jokes on anyone that still uses McAfeee or unsuspectingly allows McAfee to be installed with other applications. Don't forget to uncheck that option.
So... McAfee wants you to install software that will do behind-the-scenes filtering of content and limit/block access to certain websites or downloads based upon their own set of rules and regulations?
That sounds like the kind of software that anti-virus software was made to catch and prevent. I believe it's called malware.
You know...if you think about it, the ones who have the most problems with acquiring viruses through pirated content are likely those who are actually using McAfee. So, interestingly, this may actually help...

Of course, consumers will actually need to install the software first to protect themselves from their pirating tendencies.
Wonder how long until this tech is licensed and locked into various browsers.
lol...Watch as their sales drop. You'll probably be able to disable it no doubt, but that won't matter to most as they just have to think there's a possibility that they can't and that will be all it takes to stop sales.
Good luck with this...
@bubu2013 if you mean Intel will put this in their chips eventually. Well I'll just buy an arm64 that's coming soon to notebooks/laptops/desktops. This would be similar to MS blocking used games and always on connections for xbox720 which will make sales plummet and whatever sales the consoles do get this time (not many Wiiu just had 50% less sales than expected...LOL as tablets & phones kick into unreal engine type games), will end up ALL going to sony who seems to bounce back and forth between giving you what you want and ticking you off. This time sony is the give you what you want and MS is the tick you off.
Unfortunately for both Sony & MS (nin also as they're showing now terrible sales), phones/tablets/ouya/shield/wikipad/razer edge etc etc are all going to eat their lunch. It's only going to get worse over the next few years as gaming REALLY gets good on any of these hooked to your tv with a gamepad (your old xbox360/ps3 gamepad...Ironically...LOL).
So just as arm64 gears up to put the hurt on desktops etc, Intel will try to DRM you at the chip level? That will just cause their sales to go like WIIU just did this Q a few days ago. When a number pops out that your sales are 1/2 off projections someone is seriously pissing off your sales correct? Tablets & phones The same will happen to Intel if they try this crap. We won't buy their chips. I doubt their going to do this though, they'll watch mcafee sales tank and decided to forget putting it on a chip.
I work for the US Federal Gov't. We use McAfee on the desktop. ...unfortunately. However, I'd be dishonest if I didn't admit that it is not as intrusive as it used to be. Like most things it can be configured to be more or less of a headache. Out of the box? Not good, not good at all.
