Memory problem

Hello,
Iinstalled new memory in my Gateway laptop P6301 and now the screen is black and doesn't seem to load. Any ideas? I put the old memory back and it is still the same.

Did you remove the battery and unplug the laptop before working inside? It's possible the memory got fried. Electrostatic discharge can cause it as well if you weren't grounded properly.

Remove the battery, unplug, and firmly re-seat the RAM module(s). Try booting with one at a time if possible.
