Mic still doesn't work with splitter

So as the title says, I got a splitter, because for some reason i couldn't use the mic on my headphones when using the headphone jack on my case.
Got the splitter today, hooked it up. speakers work, mic is now recognized, but i can't use the mic. The only sound I hear is when I squeeze the button on it that ends/or accepts calls - which is just a distorted blop.

Help please
