Microphone Rear Jack issue, possible solutions?

So, I recently bought a Zalman ZM-1 microphone and it sound like total crap. It is inaudible, and when i boost it, causes fuzz beyond tolerance. Through other forums online, I've seen that getting some kind of sound card would help. If this is true, would a simple audio adapter like the one made by syba be good enough? or would I need something like an ASUS Xonar DG. I am currently using an M5A99X R2.0 EVO Motherboard with Realtek.

That ASUS is pretty cheap, I'd go with that.
