[citation][nom]Cryogenic[/nom]Because Microsoft created and supports DirectX not OpenGL. Why would they go with OpenGL if they have their own (better imo) api? Api which they are free to evolve as they see fit to better suit the platform. Besides DirectX in general is always a few steps ahead of OpenGL since quite some time now.[/citation]
Akhem, OpenGL had tessellation long before dx11 was released, OpenGL is cross-platform, so if you write an engine in OpenGL, it can be run on something more than just x86. And it isn't cpu-limited. Of course, all of the games today do it with dx, but where people use countless blades to render a picture for a movie, or in cgi, they use OpenGL.

I was surprised to hear of a phone needing 256 MB RAM. I guess times are moving on. And still a new model "smart" phone without copy + paste or multitasking.

[citation][nom]dreamphantom_1977[/nom]I was seriously all down on the windows 7 phone, until I heard it has directX 9 (with sm3). A few things they should change for minimum requirements: 1. up the ram to at least 512mb 2. multitouch "resistive" touch screen 3. standard usb drivers and usb port 4. wireless g phone to phone networking- with 512mb you could play bf2- resistive multitouch is the only technology that I believe could beat out the iphone.- standard usb drivers and usb port so you can use a keyboard, mouse, joystick, and, it would be easy to create add-ons for the phone. - and the wireless phone to phone networking would be great so you could create a lan game and play with your friends. (battlefield 2)Just think about it.[/citation]

it also needs multitasking, and copy & paste

[citation][nom]martel80[/nom]Like it couldn't run with a 4MP camera without flash... What kind of bullsh*t requirement is this?[/citation]
The requirements set a quality standard, that way you can be sure that all phones running this OS will have at least this set of hardware and never lower.

LOL Windows phone = fail. Android vs. Mac OS Mobile are winning by a land slide. Nobody wants the problems of Windows in their pocket. It's going to be just as successful as Vista... and WinME.

[citation][nom]rodney_ws[/nom]I remember when phones made calls. Those days are long gone.[/citation]
What's a call? It is like text message but with voice?
