WLM is considered a dinosaur now. Mentioning its name is followed by "Who even uses that anymore?" or "Last time I used it was X years ago." Skype has a better brand recognition to it so all around it's a good move and everyone wins

They keep updating live messenger too often, so the version I have on my pc doesn't work and I am too lazy to update it. (Since it was to do the essential thing and that a big install).

Meanwhile I never have to update the skype client. I hate being forced to update my client.
