generally i would never buy a console, i consider them inferior for anytype of game play be it. i belive the only kinda games a person can play on consoles are adventure games thats all the thumbsticks are really good for.

anyways i was at the shop to buy a 360 (i was aware this console has failure issues) so i asked the shop keeper to show me the system running. It was his display system that he was trying to get started when i noticed the red light. in this part of the world microsoft warranty is no good. i decided against the purchase.

just few weeks ago one of my friends whos an xbox fan boy had his system die on him. it was a ntsc system(usa model). in this region now all the new systems are pal. well he had to settle for pal but this ment all the games he bought over the last 2 years were all ntsc and now they wont work with his new pal 360.

i seriously wonder why ppl even buy this crap. with all the hassle involved on consoles i do not consider them cheaper then pc by any means. i wonder why ppl buy such crap.

"Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg really things the Xbox 360 hardware failures are a thing of the past. "

Having trouble spelling again...

"That's fine and great, but that doesn't solve the inconvenience consumers are facing with purchased consoles now. Although Microsoft has extended the warranty to three years, covering both the Red Ring of Death failure and the E74 error, is it worth sending back the machine for repairs? No, Microsoft should replace the defective product with a new, improved model, end of story."

Alright Kevin, next time I see an article written by you, I'll navigate away.

im sorry to hear

what i dont understand is why microsoft charges so much

why dont they work out a deal with xbox reseller to just exchange the units for a refurbished one for lets say $25

that will cut the 4-8 week waittime.

maybe they could do it when they open up their microsoft store

internet polls are about as accurate as as a 500 lb drunk fat guy trying to walk a tight rope. i'd bleive a real world fail rate of about 15-20% but 54% that only takes into consideration the peopel who did teh poll there are coutnless milions of 360 owners that liekly never go to that web site , hoenstly reporting that poll as news int ehf rist palce was BS.

Over the past year or so Tom's has just become a venue for product advertisement disguised as news, and a personal rant space for its bloggers (aka "journalists"). Between Jane's 'get this now' product pushes or KP's political and industry rants, they don't exactly do a good job of hiding the real business going on behind the scenes.

why is it that if someone doesn't agree with a article they start looking for typos to bash

the point of a article is to get the word out and the message across and thats what this article did

microsoft sucks when it comes to quality as of late

This is what happens when you stick opinion in a news article....

Don't let that happen here or all hell will break loose!!!

The problem is most people put the console in a entertainment center with glass doors and it gets too hot. Would you put your computer in there, no I dont think so.

Sure I would. I'd put my Atom in there 😛

At any case, I would NEVER put my full gaming rig,etc in there.

I agree, I get tired of hearing all the whining about a misspelled word. Yeah we can all see it too, is there any need to point it out? Are people getting stuck at that one word, unable to finish the article because they can't figure out somebody hit the "e" key instead of the "w" key?

At the same time though, it's been going on for long enough that I think if it were me I would start paying more attention just so I wouldn't have to hear the complaining anymore.

I must say the hate for toms hardware authors amuses me. If your not happy with the way the articles are written there are always other websites you can go visit. Overall just wanted to say you guys at Tom’s do a great job.

Oh yeah and to throw my 2cents worth in, the 360 is a terrible piece of hardware. Been through two myself. The first had to be repaired twice and I gave up all together after they wouldn’t cover my second ones problem under warranty. I think I will stick with ps3 and PC gaming as they seem much more reliable and I probably wont be buying any of Microsoft’s future consoles either.

wow, They've fixed the problem already? after only 4 years? great work Microsoft! have a cookie!

this is what happens when you buy HARDware from microSOFT.

I've had my xbox for about 2 years... not a problem yet... so who knows maybe they have. at least there putting fourth an effort and not ignoring the problem. but ya this guy does look like hes setting himself up for a world of hurt. if he cant filter out the news from personal beliefs then he should not be writing up stories and ruining the credibility of the sight. at the least he should stop posting it up as news.

So many people here like to trash the 360, but did anyone think that the 360 has the MOST system out in the market? The PS3 isn't in almost every household and the Wii just doesn't have the horsepower under the hood to produce enough heat.

My experience with local people having burned out 360s come from them having it installed in an audio cabinet or tight surround. Usually those that have it in those cabinet have it next to or on top of an audio receiver...

Microsoft continues to improve the 360 over time and even with the newest chips stuff happens...

how does the 360 have the most systems out there.. sony is at 20million.

xbox has shipped 25million reduce 30% from that due to fails and you end up with 17.5million.

in the end be it ps3 or 360 both of them are terrible.. i wouldnt pay so much for such outdated machines. imo they arent worth more then 59 USD each (not in the current time atleast no way i would pay more then that for a RSX chip)

@kashifme21 - tell me when I can purchase your RSX Chip based console for $60.00, no better yet, let me know when you start selling 360s or PS3, I will buy them by the truck loads....

@andrew

i am sure you could find a 79XX based card these days for 60usd (maybe something even better). whats more the games that card will run will not cost you 59usd they will be 10usd cheaper And it wont cost you to play online.
