The same way you would recover any other piece of stolen property.
It's no different from a radio, a TV or a car.

What! you mean you did not install a remotely-activatiable self-destrcut device in it in case of theft? 😀

If you had installed a program like Lo-Jack-for-Laptops or Prey - it might have been able to 'phone home'.
But, usually, a stolen laptop has it's hard disk wiped.
