I swapped a WiFi card in my laptop. To access it is a ribbon cable that connects some io to the mobo. Somehow in the process one pin on the io side was stripped during insertion. The motherboard got unusually hot quickly but I cut power before it got crazy.

I replaced the cable but no dice - is my motherboard likely dead?

Power button, SD Card Reader, USB, Volume up and Down.

I can do the repair myself, I just wouldn't be able to make the diagnosis without swapping the motherboard as the test. I only wanted to know if anyone had an ideas on if something like this would be likely enough to fry the motherboard before I spend the $150

It's an Acer Ultrabook, i'll get the model number if it would help anyone, but I'm just needing to know if theres any tests I could do before removing the motherboard.
