Monitor with Direct TV

With the 65" monitor I acquired, I thought it might be a good thing to turn it into a tv. It looks great and audio as well, the only thing that I seem to have problems with, would be programming the remote to the tv or receiver. Please help me if you know a way to make it to where I can turn the receiver on and off with the remote

There DTV receiver remote will operate some models of TVs but perhaps not a monitor. Call DTV tech support. They should be able to tell you if it can work and how.
If not then remotes such as the Harmony Logitech models can be programmed to operate different components.
