monitor wont come on

I connect an external monitor still nothing but the laptop powers up hp pavilion dv6700

Hi,

Press the Windows key + P then select between "Duplicate or Extended" then press Enter. But if the laptop isn't showing any display either do a hard reset first. Remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Plug just AC adapter then boot the laptop again, you can put the battery back once the laptop is on.
