Motorola VoiceMail Won't Answer

I have a Motorola v400 phone from Cingular. The voice mail doesn't answer
when someone calls. It just rings and rings. Is there a setting, either
with my account or the phone itself, that I have to activate? I have gone
through the setup, administered a personal greeting and all that. But no
one can leave messages for me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Since Voice Mail is controlled and saved on the Cingular side of things
it has zero to do with which phone you have. Call 611 and let them work
their magic. VoiceMail is one thing they usually handle well.

Thanks. Out of curiosity, does 611 time come out of my minutes?

Voicemail can be controlled from a GSM phone (on a GSM plan) using standard
GSM codes. See "Divert Voice Calls" at

Had this same issue just last night with my wife's phone. Come to find out
voicemail had not been activated on her line; apparently it's a "request
only" feature.

I called the 800.331.0500 number and walked through the menu tree until I
got to the help with voicemail option and my wife's phone was set up in
under a minute.

Best,

Glenn

Try actually reading it. Hint: "destination" is the voicemail number.
