[citation][nom]chunkymonster[/nom]The Xoom would be worth the money if it could also be used as a cell phone and if carriers offered a combined voice/data plan. Carriers and manufacturers are losing out big time by selling a tablet without phone functionality, at least in America, because in Europe you can get a tablet that has phone functionality along with a reasonably priced voice/data plan. Before anyone replies with something like, "What you gonna put a tablet up to face to make phones calls?!" I encourage you to first think outside the box and consider the fact that a tablet with phone functionality would easily replace many singular function devices like an MP3 player, a video player, a netbook, GPS, cell phone, and mobile internet device.A tablet with phone functionality, like the European version of the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, is what manufacturers and carriers need to offer in the United States instead of selling castrated devices and forcing the consumers to pay for separate voice and data plans.I blame a lack of visions and corporate greed for this paradigm. Let's face it, it is not in the best interest of profit to sell a tablet with phone functionality that would effectively undercut smart phone sales; but why should the same manufacturers and carriers be allowed to sell the same product in different countries with different functionality. I WANT A TABLET WITH PHONE FUNCTIONALITY AND A REASONABLY PRICED VOICE/DATA PLAN!!!![/citation]

I see your point but the situation would have to be right for it to be practical, cause you are gonna be tethered to your pad at least with in say 20 feet at all times if you are going to have a tablet as a phone. Unless of course you have a phone in addition. But then whats the point of having a tablet with a phone and a separate phone?? I'm so confused.

Willing to pay upto $300 for a tablet pc, it's just not worth the price!
Although I am not interested in 3 or 4G. Just wifi is enough for me.

Tom, SMITE HIM!!!!

"For more than $900, I would want to see some real value, perception value and functional value, that would deliver a handful of stunning features I can't get on any other ($628+tax+accessories) iPad. I am not aware of any such a feature and Honeycomb isn't enough, as great and as competitive it may be."

Not aware of any such feature?? Really? 2 cameras, expandability via usb and sd just to name a couple, never mind the dual core processor, 4 times the ram... etc.

WTH is toms coming to? This article is pure apple propaganda... maybe check this guys bank account for a recent deposit from apple.

All these tablet competitors are far more costly than the iPad when you factor in the CONTRACT they force you into. Why can't they match what iPad does and allow you to go month-to-month without a contract? Is it freaking hard to do??? And yes, it is a freaking free OS, so why so expensive???

I purchased my wife a xoom for valentines and she can't put it down, she just loves it. I never gave the price any consideration until I started reading other folks comments and I still don't get it. It talks to my wife she talks to it she's happy, I'm happy. The screen is large and with just the touch of the fingers you can make things larger. I'm no expert but this appears to be the c omputer of the future the keyboard and the mouse right there at the touch of your fingers, now if it would only download a disc.
