So basically it cost more and is smaller than a whole bunch of laptops. If your main criteria is 12" then this a good deal, but if you're willing to go up to 14" this is not a good deal.

So looking at the specs of every laptop you posted from newegg, they all weigh over 5.4lbs. Part of the appeal of this laptop is getting a lower weight of 4lbs, plus a smaller form-factor, while getting better performance than your standard netbook. Seems like a pretty reasonable idea to me.
