Question MSI PL60 7RD Laptop screen not functioning

My laptop screen began to flicker black every now and then, with the frequency increasing as time passed. Now my laptop screen does not work at all. Hooking the laptop up via HDMI to a TV definitely works so it must be something to do with the screen.

Is there an easy way to diagnose my problem before I get it repaired at a tech shop? I fully intend to get it professionally repaired but I was hoping to get an idea as to the problem so I can prevent it from happening again.

Going by what you describe, and since it works when connected to another display (the TV), it is likely either the display itself or the cable that connects it to the motherboard that is the issue. If either has just gone bad, there really isn't much you can do to prevent it from happening again. Now if either was damaged, that you can prevent by just not allowing the same thing to happen.
