My Acer aspire d250-1517 doesn't turn on

I got this Acer from the thrift store and got the right volts plug but when I plug it in an orange light comes on by the battery light and when I push power putting in lights up green put nothing else. Can it just be really dead or is it more than that?!?

Try removing the battery and see if it works on mains power alone. Some batteries can go so flat, they can't even pass power through and if it's been in a shop and unuesed for a while, that may have happened.

On the base of the machine, you should see one or two knurled bars which have to be released to let go of the battery.
