My C55-B5100 died

I put a CD in the drive for a children's art program. The computer went black and now the on/off switch blinks 5 times. I did the hold the switch schtick, 30, 60, 120 seconds and nothing. With the battery in/out. The power does not even come on with the battery out as I believe the battery has to be in for the plug to work. This laptop is less than 2 years old. I suspect it is the motherboard and, if so, it is probably not worth repairing. Would that be an accurate assessment?

If you unplugged the battery and wall power, held in the power button for about 30 seconds and it still does not start, it's very likely a bad motherboard. You can try another power cable if you can find one cheaply.
