My Compaq presanario laptop won't keep charge

Was working fine then all of sudden it work keep charge. Do I need a new battery

Try running a test on the battery by following the instructions here: https/fossbytes.com/powercfg-check-battery-capacity-battery-health-report-windows-using-cmd/

Other options...

Generally if your battery will not hold a charge -- the battery has gone bad. It could be the charger as well. Try removing the battery, plugging in the charger, and turning on laptop. See if the laptop shuts off. If it doesn't, then we could narrow it down to the battery. Check if the battery has any 'bulges'/'swelling' as well.
