What you can do first is to check if your laptop is working. Plug the laptop to an external monitor/LCD and then turn on the laptop. You may need to press a combination of keys to transfer the screen to the external monitor usually it is activated by pressing the FN + Fx ("x" could be any function key numbered 1 to 12) Better check your laptop manual. If something came out of the external monitor it means that your laptop is running ok and there could be a problem with your LCD. How old is your laptop, what is the model ? I suspect that it could be either the inverter board(if you have the older LCD type) or the LCD itself is bad.
