My DVD hookup

I connected my dvd to my smart tv on my tv remote where do I go to have the dvd working what is the setting

Well depends on your smart tv. But typically it'll have a button on the remote saying something like smart or menu. If you press it it should show you some sort of view with apps. Which tv is it?

The TV may not let you select the input you connected the DVD to unless the DVD is on.
If there is a button on the remote labeled "input", "source" or "TV/Video" try that.
You may have to select it from the onscreen display. The owners manual should help.
