My flash usb

Hello,
A USB flash drive that I have used for a while now all of a sudden won't work on my computer! My other USB devices work fine but this one won't show up under "My Computer" and I don't know how to access any of the documents I've saved on it. My computer does make the sounds it always does when I insert and remove the flash drive, but the USB still doesn't show up! PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried the flash drive in another computer? Have you looked in device manager and deleted any USB devices with a yellow pling?

I have. It looks like the USB is actually damaged. If you have any ideas of how to retrieve information saved on there I would appreciate it. I don't want to try going to a specialist because I don't want to spend a bunch of money on it.
