What's the model of your Smart TV?
What type of wireless networks it supports (2.4GHz, 5GHz)?
If you have 5GHz and your TV only supports 2.4GHz, then it won't see the 5GHz WiFi network.
How good is the WiFi signal in your room.

My bedrooms in an extension. Do I need a booster thingy?

My answer to that is, if your smartphone has at least 3 bars in the bedroom, your TV should at least see the SSID. So like the other fellah, I too suspect a 2.4/5ghz issue.
