my laptop is only 18 mnths old. surely doesnt need new batter yet? turns off suddenly after an hour of use even though battery

sorry not sure what athread is
my laptop spectre is 18 months old.
lately , although charged, it shuts down after an hour.
i hope I dont need a new battery after only this short time.

Actually it could need a new battery. However, it could also be overheating, so I would try monitoring the temps to see if that the the problem.
