My laptop updated it self and now my cursor sits at the middle of the start screen and I can't move it or use the keyboard. I tried fn + f7 already

could be 2 things

*your keyboard and mouse cables got unhooked (very unlikely)
*the update destroyed the drivers for your keyboard and mouse input device

Can you connect an external mouse and keyboard and tell us if they work?
