My laptop was working fine, then Malwarebyte update so I ran a quick scan that showed 40 pup virus. I checked them then selec

probably your anti-virus deleted some of your system files which may have been affected by virus...formatting is a option

Vishnu, ok, thanks. My computer illiterate husband fiddled with the plug the next morning, and the computer started right up. I think the plug for the AC adapter just wasn't in the socket all the way, and the battery ran down. Kind of a duh moment, sorry.
