My laptop won't charge and it's worrying me

My Dell laptop (Inspiron 15 as far as I'm aware) has a charging problem. The inside of the port on the laptop seems to have come loose. It stays within about 3/4 of an inch of where it is supposed to be, though. It charges sometimes but not nearly enough to get it charged at all. I can wiggle the charger around and get it to charge for a split second but it comes up with the notification saying that the charger has been "determined". I have tried taking out the battery and unscrewing all of the screws off the bottom to take off the casing, but I can't seem to (I may be doing something wrong). Is there some way I can fix this without taking it to get fixed? Thanks in advance!

Does the computer continue to run as long as the power cord is in use, or will it eventually turn off ?
