Solved! My laptop won't connect to my TV via HDMI

The screen on my laptop is busted so you can't see anything on it, because of that I use my Tv as a monitor for it. This is the only use for the TV. It used to work by just plugging in the HDMI cord between. But now after my dad had unplugged it for a short while, it for some reason doesn't work anymore. I have tried plugging it into the 2 HDMI slots but neither work. The TV only shows a 'No Signal!' image.
Tv- a really old Toshiba TV.
Computer- Acer : Windows 8

The order you boot the laptop and select the input on the TV that it's connected to makes a difference so change the order.

It is possible that the HDMI cable is not working. Try to get a new HDMI cable and see if it will work.
