if you wanna teardown your laptop, maybe it would be helpful,by removing all the screw and recheck the keyboard connector and the key itself, and reclean it may help,

maybe there r dust and water stuck into the keyboard itself like what im does last year with my xps.

using external keyboard seems help, but it wont do anything when the internal keyboard are messing up or ghost-pressing/keyboard ghosting occur.

if you wanna change it by yourself,be careful of the internal cable thats connect the trackpad, and another things, anyway the keyboard itself was cheap to buy at the online store, just type your laptop type like "dell xps 2018 keyboard".

if you just covered by warranty, call the tech support, but make sure theres no water damage,cz...

No info about the actual system but looks like a newer Dell system. Contact warranty support, I have seen a lot of issues with Dell laptops last 6 years, their latest Lattitudes are blanking out screens and we have a few with similar keyboard issues.
This is actually a Lenovo laptop and likely either an IdeaPad or YOGA model. I have an IdeaPad that happens to have this exact same keyboard issue and it happens randomly. Just happened to me again earlier today. It's really weird because the only keys that don't work are space, enter, backspace, and ctrl/alt/shift. The issue usually sorts itself out for me after a few minutes, and when the issue is not occurring the keyboard works perfectly fine.

OP: maybe try pushing the keys down harder (but not too hard) and try to wiggle them around at the same time? Sometimes that works for me. If the keyboard refuses to work then I'd contact Lenovo support.

I have a similar problem (space bar wouldn't work unless I pressed it hard). Solved it (sort of) by getting an external keyboard - but now other keys on the laptop are not working and the only way I can use it is with the external keyboard (Bluetooth in this case, but it also works with a USB keyboard).

Hi guys, I am Blind and I use the computer with the aid of specialised audible assistive software but I will NEVER allow my disability to overpower my ABILITIES. one of the machines at our Blind club is a Lattitude, most of us use NVDA to make the comp read everything to us but in order to use input in the same way as you poor unfortunate SIGHTED people we use "Dragon Naturally Speaking` so we never actually have to use a keyboard. So there is your solution use Dragon Naturally Speaking.

That would be a workaround not a fix. And at $200 for the home version it very likely much more expensive than the actual fix.
