my new T-Mobile phone was never activated. How can I get a unlock code?

My new T-Mobile phone was never activated. I have the unattached T-Mobile sim card within its credit card surrounding that was packaged in the T-Carrier box.box. How can I get an unlock code since the device carrier already shows T-Mobile as carrier? I called about six different numbers to T-Mobile and all I get is yea yea answers with no solution. I bought the Windows Lumia 435 online from Walmart.

T-Mobile has to unlock it for you. There are unlocking services all over the place but we don't recommend them, and I've never tried using one.
