my phone just freak out on me

Might not be on iOS, Adam.

If it's Android, and the device is rooted; there are plenty of apps for data recovery available on PlayStore. The phone has to be rooted in order to recover any files in the phones internal storage - you should be able to recover files from the SD card without root.
