My projector has no sound - the picture is perfect however no sound can be heard except on menu screen. Any suggestions?

Projector has no sound - picture is perfect though. Sound can be heard on menu screen but when watching or games we have nothing. Even tried plugging DVD straight in back of projector and using headphones but nothing.

Did you hear sound on the dvd movie menu? or the projector menu?
What did you use to connect the dvd to the projector?

sound can be heard on projector menu screen. Dvd was plugged straight into HD socket at back of projector which is ceiling mounted. Even tried headphones at back of projector in av output but no sound could be heard
