Solved! My Samsung tv is snowy when I turn it on before I ever connect to an antenna. What is wrong?

Solution

This tells me you are "tuned" to the AV input, you gotta do 3 things:

1. Go into your Menu/Setup and change TV from Cable to Antenna.
2. Tell it to do a SCAN (with antenna already hooked up). This may take up to 1/2 hour.
3. Use remote to select input TV.

Even when I connect my indoor antenna it's still snowy. I can get the menu and options but it doesn't clear up. At her house we plugged it into the electrical outlet and the screen was dark but said "No signal". After bringing it to my place it had the snowy screen with or without the antenna.

If this TV has an HDMI port on the back (Google for image) then is a digital TV.

But am wagering you have an analog TV, in which case, you need box which decodes digital TV that are broadcast today. You will need a box called an ATSC tuner. Am not on top of these things so no idea how much they cost to "revive" this TV for you.
