My sd card deleted my pictures how do I get them back

A Card can't remove pictures. They can only be deleted by choosing to delete them (on purpose or by accident), by formatting the card or by having something on the device that deleted them.

So how to try and get them back is going to depend on how they went missing. What happened exactly?
