my sony DAV-HDX-576WF wont put sound out from my new 65 inch LG 65UJ6300 UA tv?

i cannot get sound from my tv when i connect my sony model DAV-HDX-576 surround system,,my tv is an LG65UJ6300UA.. everything works on system i can even play a dvd n the sound works but will not put out sound from system if i just try watching tv itself!! sound works on tv itself as is a brand new tv..any help would be appreciated thanks!!
