my toshiba laptop screen was broken,i took it for repair then they gave me the old screen,which at the back of it had a serial

My laptop is stolen and i still have the old screen when i took it for repair,but to my knowledge,the screen has the serial number which and wondering if its the same thing as the one under the laptop
Please help
